Welcome to Fashion Stack!

I'm so glad you're here.

Fashion Stack is a think piece; a space where I share my perspective on fashion, fashion tech, and the culture shaping both.

I'll be honest about why I started this. Writing does something for me. It helps me develop constructive thoughts, clarify my thinking, do deep research on topics I care about. And honestly? There's something meditative about it. Also... I can't deny there's a bit of Carrie Bradshaw energy involved that makes it all feel romantic.

me ..and every other girl starting a newsletter

But the bigger reason is this:

I don't see the conversations I want to see online often enough. So I built this little corner to have them.

Who I am

My name is Lauren. I'm a Black French woman of African background working in fashion tech, and that combination shapes everything about how I see this industry.

I started my career in finance before realizing my passion for fashion tech was too strong to ignore. So I gradually worked towards it: moved into tech, built several ventures in fashion and fashion tech, met incredible people along the way. I've lived in New York, Paris, London, and now Berlin and each city left a mark on how I think about fashion, tech, and culture.

me pitching my first startup for the first time everrrr

I bridge corporate innovation and entrepreneurship. I care about where fashion comes from and where it's going... and about the voices that don't always get the loudest seat in the room. Fashion Stack is where I think out loud about an industry I love, and the technology and culture reshaping it.

What you'll get

Perspectives you don't see often enough: on the industry, the technology reshaping it, and the culture behind it all.

Interviews with people I admire: founders, designers, operators, people with fascinating paths and trajectories.

Fashion tech deep dives: startups, opportunities, emerging markets, and what it all means.

Takes on fashion itself: because none of this exists without the clothes. (Obviously)

If you're passionate about this industry, working in it, trying to break into it, or just genuinely curious: this newsletter is for you, my friend.

Speaking of which — I couldn't launch this without sharing one of my favorite fashion industry podcasts, Fashion Neurosis by Bella Freud. This episode with Alessandro Michele is so poetic.

You're welcome.

Before I leave you, I have two asks:

  1. Reply to this email and tell me who you are. I read every response.
  2. And if you know someone who should be here, forward this to them. (Please?)

— Lauren
